A Week In Summer

 8-29-21 to 9-5-21

There, I've fixed it! I'll post a week at a time and be caught up quicker.

8-29

I've discovered a new biking route from home so no car required. The roads are mostly lightly traveled but I do make sure I'm brightly colored and seen, then I throw a prayer up to keep me safe and I'm off. Into town first, then out towards Eagle Mills and farm land and creeks. So pretty, hilly, and a great workout.

8-30

Off to visit Mom and the family. Dinner at the Chicken BBQ in Pennsylvania, a trip to the ReStore to get Corelle for Janice, and walks to keep me in shape.

9-3-21

After a meandering trip back home across NYS backroads and the Thruway for a bit, I was very restless. I asked neighborfriend Annette to take a quick hike to Barberville Falls. It was raging with all the rain we've had and made a nice racket from the parking lot. Then we did the ridge trail to get our blood pumping and our minds calm. We sat on a large boulder at the edge of the stream just to chat and solve the world's problems. There is nothing like a walk in the woods to put your mind at ease no matter what may be going on with the world.

9-5-21

By Sunday I felt like biking again, and I hadn't done the Glens Falls to Lake George trail this year so Lyne and I set off on an impromptu ride. We were going at a good clip, but as soon as we neared Lake George, the trail was teeming with triathletes doing the running portion of the event. We had to be careful not to interfere with them, and soon I began cheering them on with encouraging words as I passed them. We watched a few of them finish, then had a snack down on the beach. The ride back was uneventful and it was nice to get in a 20 mile ride for the day.
