False Spring
3/3/22
It may look like spring out there, but we all know about false spring. You can't be lulled into leaving the ice scraper home, or venture too far without full winter gear in the car. It may be sunny and 58 this afternoon, but tomorrow could bring 6 inches of snow and howling winds. Such is March in upstate NY.
I'm heading to Corning to visit Mom, Aunt Pat and the sibs before I head to California next week. It's been over a year since I've seen and hugged my sweet daughter. I can't wait. We'll take a long weekend in the southern California desert near Joshua Tree National Park. I'm glad to get more use out of the National Park Pass I bought for Utah last year. I love to take my girl on nature adventures - she is not too keen until we get out and see the beauty, then she can't get enough. At least that was true when she was younger.
This picture was taken last December when she came here obviously. No one needs to dress like this in Los Angeles!

I'm back home and packing for the Cali trip on Weds. I spent Saturday with my dog-niece Rhona as her humans were off to Staten Island to see Cassie compete at the State Track Meet. We went up on the hill so she could run free; it overlooks my hometown in the valley below.
Then I played Scrabble with sister-1 and mom. I lost all the games but had lots of fun. We had a lovely spring Sunday with temperatures in the 70's. Sister-4 and I went for a long walk and watched the snow melt away. Then I made tiramisu for the first time and learned a few tricks to get it just right the next time. Brother-1 and sister in law came and we ordered dinner in, then sister-4 and brother in law joined for dessert.
My first attempt at tiramisu. Now I know how truly decadent it is.
My biggest accomplishment was convincing my mom to replace the horribly uncomfortable mattress in the room I stay in. We got one of those memory foam ones that come highly compressed in a box that you unwrap and it expands into shape. Oh my goodness, what a difference! I did not want to get out of bed in the morning, it was so lovely. I'm not sure how it would hold up to daily use, but for a guest room it is a great improvement. You're welcome sister-3 (who also visits there).
Crocus - actual proof of spring! They look a bit frozen and nibbled though.I'll continue packing now as I have to leave the house at 0 dark thirty tomorrow to get to the airport.
