Two Weeks And Counting
Sunday 6/4/23
In 2 weeks I'll be heading to JFK for my flight to Geneva. This trip has been in the planning stage for so long, I can hardly believe it's time to start organizing equipment and details. I ordered a new day pack for hiking and some Smartwool shirts as well. I've been checking the weather in Chamonix and it looks very wet and slightly warm, so I'll have to pack a variety of layers. It's getting real.

| Even the deer are desperate for water. |
In meantime I've been carefully tending the garden. It desperately needs rain so I can stop watering day after day. At least the 80 -90 degree heat has stopped.
Monday 6/5/23
After weighing the pros and cons, I popped over to Walgreens and got the bivalent booster. Then I got out for a brisk walk before any side effects kicked in. I think I got all of them by the time I got home so I took to the couch for the rest of the day. The headache was the worst, but I felt the fatigue and aches all over.

| I watched this little one walk into the road and plop down. I hurried over as I was afraid a car would come by and hit it. One second after I took the photo, the fawn ran back to the woods. Whew! |

Another bike ride done, but the air quality is very bad due to the wildfires in Quebec. It's very hazy and I can smell the smoke. And a big thunderstorm is just going to miss this area and we really need the rain as water restrictions have begun. Our air quality is so bad right now, I'm going to stay in the house and bust out my sewing machine for a few alterations. What a fun life!

I couldn't believe how bad the AQ was when I checked the NY city where my older daughter used to live. We'll get the same wildfire issues soon, I'm sure. Since we're both outdoorsy types, it's miserable to stay in and not be able to walk or bike. I don't want to risk my lungs though. Right now it's fine, but the summer is going to be BAD if it's already started. :( We also need rain; I'm so tired of watering. That's exciting about your trip! I've always wanted to go to Chamonix. I love Switzerland for many reasons, although the beer was lousy as I recall. ;)
