The week started off with an outdoor walk and holiday party with the hiking group. The new venue this year was Saratoga Spa State Park. The turnout was great, so George mentioned that this would be the new site of the party. I guess we're getting older because the original site was at the top of a short but steep mountain hike in Lake George, which made it a bit challenging for some. It was great to catch up with some of the members I haven't seen in a while and I met a few new people as well. I stopped off to say hello to Susan on my way home as she wrenched her back and wasn't able to come to the party.

The rest of the week has been very quiet as I worked on house projects, went line dancing, and jumped into my physical fitness with a little more effort. I've added a bit of strength training to see if that helps with aches and pains and keeping weight gain to a minimum.
I did go to an ENT specialist for loss of hearing in one ear. I had a hearing test which confirmed the hearing loss and now I'm scheduled for an MRI to see why. The Dr. also asked if I thought about a hearing aid which I said is probably inevitable. Sigh.
There is a very thin layer of snow on the ground which adds a nicer light to the outside world. Yesterday was beautiful with the flakes sifting down all day. It did not add up to much but was nice to take a walk in. The same thing happened today. No snow forecast, but a light snow fell most of the afternoon. That along with sub freezing temperatures caused me to curl up on the sofa with a good book recommended in the Washington Post: The Benevolent Society of Ill-Mannered Ladies.

| Major enjoying the snow fall. |
Your hiking group is big! I love a light dusting of snow and watching it fall although I'm definitely not a fan of too much lowland snow. Just had my winter tires put on today, so I'm ready for any Snowmaggedon. Our passes got hit and one of them closed because of spin outs; I won't be heading up there to try out my AWD and tires. Let me know what you think of that book!
ReplyDeleteGoodness me, do Americans have weddings outside even in winter??? Brrr! Scottish weddings are never outside. Our weather isn't reliable until an hour or so before... and sometimes not even then.
ReplyDeleteThe Benevolent Society of Ill-Mannered Ladies was a page turner and I finished it quickly. I hope it will develop into a series of books.
ReplyDeleteThe wedding ceremony and reception were inside, but it's very popular to do a photo shoot outside.
