Winter Doldrums
A dull winter day on the frozen lake where my neighbors are ice fishing, skating, and X-C skiing.
I could not resist these charming quail eggs from my local farm shop. I needed a special pair of egg scissors to open them easily.
Quail egg cutter.
The weather has been uncooperative with outdoor plans so I've just been working on the house, reading, and going through paperwork to continue the name change. My passport is in the hands of the US Passport office for the change, so I can't wait to get that back. With the way things are going in this country, I figured I need all my documents updated and ready to go. Now if I can just remember to use my new correct name moving forward.
I've installed a new light fixture in one bathroom, put a bird feeder on the deck, and set up a photo sorting/purging station in the spare bedroom.
Neighborhood walks are my diversion lately, but even they get scuttled by some extreme wind, snow squalls, or in today's case, rain/ice. Hopefully the cross country ski trip tomorrow won't be cancelled like Wednesday's.
This picture barely captured the blue and pink auras on the high clouds.
I'm tempted to get in the car and just take myself on a southerly trip to bike ride and enjoy some warmth, so that may occur if the opportunity arises.
Ice fishing shacks and an ATV on the lake. I guess the fact that a man died last week by driving on the ice and falling through, didn't cause these folks any pause.
The latest turn of events - tomorrow's X-C ski venue has been changed from a location 2.5 hrs away where the high temp is expected to be 9 degrees, to an hour away where the temp will be flirting with 30 degrees. Much better all around!
I love the cloud photo; I take (too)many of those. Today we have rain for the first time in a long while so it's gray and not conducive to picture taking. I too have 50-60 year old preventative fillings that my grandpa (my dentist) put in--prior to sealants. It was a genius move since I've never had a cavity. (yet) What have you been reading? Congratulations on the name change! I wish I'd never hyphenated my name; it has caused issues. But it would be a huge hassle to change everything at this point.
ReplyDeleteI put off changing back to my birth name for so long because of the hassle, but winter seems to be perfect since I have much more time to make calls, mail docs, etc... It also feels great!
