Baubles

 12/6 Saturday

I'm paying the price for going out and partying not 24 hours after general anesthesia surgery. My muscle aches started during the lunch yesterday and now I can't move without lots of body pain today. I'm hoping a full day of rest and lots of fluids will help. I'm going to lay low tomorrow as well, to give my ear every chance at healing quickly.

12/8 Monday

My skinny pencil Christmas trees won't hold large ornaments, so I've taken to
hanging them around doors and windows to festivate my home.

Who knew rest and fluids would get me back to somewhat normal! Still no exertion allowed, so life is rather dull. Grocery shopping and light housework is all I've been doing. I did put up more than my usual amount of decorations for Christmas, though there isn't much to choose from since I've given most of it away. My daughter comes tomorrow and my two sisters will join us on the weekend. I'm very excited. I'm planning lasagna, meatballs, and salad so far.

Some of my prettiest (and heaviest) baubles.

Annette came over for tea and we discussed finances, of all things. We are the same age, but she is planning one more year of work and can't wait to retire. I've been living the retired life for 6 years and feel very grateful for all my hard work and saving to facilitate that choice. I put up some outdoor Christmas lights, but not all. It was brutally cold which makes working gloveless a very short activity.

12/9 - Tuesday

The bird feeder is a delight lately and I'm contemplating getting another. A series of cold fronts are coming through so no temperatures above freezing point for awhile. A flock of robins has descended to finish off any remaining crabapples. Add in cardinals, nuthatches, juncos, 3 types of wood peckers, bluejays, etc. and the yard is full of life which makes me very happy. A hawk made a kill in the neighbor's yard, so it's a Wild Kingdom out there!

In a most uncharacteristic moment for me, I went shopping at Home Goods and was enchanted
with these glass ornaments. And the vase. Will they end up at the thrift shop soon?

12/10 Wednesday

Daughter has arrived after two trouble free flights across the country. I made her favorite pumpkin macaroni and cheese and broccoli. I am quite happy to have her company! I'm off to have my hair tended to and she has to work  today so life is quiet and very good.

  1. I'm so happy about the trouble free flights and that your daughter is now there in your beautifully decorated home. I love the baubles! I've learned over the years that I need to take it easy sometimes; I'm still not very good at that though. I like to be active as do you!
