Taking Advantage
We were graced with three days of 60 -70°F weather earlier this week and it was wonderful.
I’m not one to waste a moment of a beautiful spring day, especially after the frigid winter we just went through. After a morning soak in the hot tub listening to the birds, I got busy giving my car a thorough cleaning inside and out. I hosed off the floor mats which were caked with salt and road grime. I just hope they dry before the winter weather returns tomorrow.
Rain is in tonight’s forecast, so I decided to take my bike out for the first ride of 2026. It was windy, cloudy, sunny and warm so why not? I'm also getting a cortisone injection in my knee tomorrow, so there will be no strenuous activity on that leg for 2 days. Best to take advantage of the opportunity!

I went snow shoeing with Sue Ellen and Patty on Monday in 60°F temps.
Afterwards, we went to a giant flea market in the Catskills. I got lucky and spotted a vintage baking dish my sister has long been searching for. I was happy to buy it for her! When she asked what she owed me, I just asked for a loaf of her sourdough bread.
I had a nice chat with the woman who sold the "Bake a Round" to me about my home town. She was trying to organize a trip there and I told her about the ReStore where she could get loads of Corning Ware for little $.

It's been a couple of days filled with medical appts and not so good news. First, a hearing test then a visit to the orthopedist to get a cortisone injection in my knee. I need to be able to ski in Norway and it has been getting a bit painful. Today was a visit with the ENT who confirmed what the CT scan showed - a mal-positioned implant. In fact, he said it had perforated my eardrum. I need another surgery to fix it. While mulling over that bit of news, I headed over to donate a pint of blood - why not do some good while I can?
The rest of my afternoon was spent reading and napping so I could meet up with friends for dinner. I immediately got two offers to drive me to my surgery (in May). I am so grateful for my friends - they are such kind people and I am so fortunate.
The ear situation must be driving you crazy! Getting nice weather is so uplifting. My exercise levels increase and my attitude is also much sunnier. :) My lawn needs mowing but it's much too wet right now and still has snow on it. Did you ever believe that I would be saying such a thing? LOL Hope your knee is better for Norway skiing. I would love to visit Scandinavia.
ReplyDeleteI've adapted to the ear situation which happens with many discomforts. My only worry is if flying will cause more trouble. My Dr said to take the trip, so I probably will. My snow is gone, but it keeps drifting down from the sky, only to melt right away.
