Let the Spring Begin... Maybe?

First kayak of the year! I just spent an hour down at the lake to see if my thumb situation was able to handle the paddle - it was, but I'm glad it was only an hour.
A muskrat was disturbed by my presence and quickly swam away, but these turtles didn't mind me too much.
The repairman came to see about the clothes washer and it needs a new pump. So its on order and I'll have to revert to pioneer ways of cleaning my clothes for another week. I've decided to replace the pump and hopefully eek out another year or two of life from this machine. I hate to buy a new one under duress, so I'll research new ones and order one I really want. I should be doing the same with the refrigerator, as it is making all kinds of interesting noises.

Yesterday (Mon), the forecast began to change from a rainy Tuesday, to a snowy one. I've noticed whenever bad weather is in the offing, I am compelled to get outside in order to store up some activity for the impending inside time. I put my bike in the car and headed to the Electric Trail to see how it was after the winter. Some grumbling on social media indicated that it was overrun with dogs and inconsiderate owners (poop!), but it was in fine condition.
My preferred trailhead was full - it only has 4 parking spots - so I had to drive a few more miles to park. There were lots of others enjoying the trail and I wondered why it took me until the 18th to get April's ride in. That just shows how fickle spring is around here. I spent a few minutes at Nassau Lake then set back the way I had come.
On the way home, I stopped at the thrift store to see if any treasures were dropped off, but no. Then as I headed home, I just couldn't end my outdoor activity so I headed over to the falls. I hiked down to the falls, then found the old trail to the top and the mill foundations and took a few shots from the top.

The forsythia don't look too thrilled with this turn of events. I know I'm not!

Snow?! The poor daffs do indeed look deflated at this current weather. I would love to do some kayaking. My late husband and I talked about getting kayaks but then he got cancer and then I was too intimidated to handle one on my own. My washer, dryer and refrigerator are old and I dread replacing them; I hear the new models don't last long at all no matter how much you pay for them. :( I see my daughter's current city on that map!
