Is It Summer Yet?

Even though the summer solstice is still a week away, it's finally feeling like summer. This week began with fun kick off concert night at Saratoga Performing Arts Center. First a picnic and happy birthday to Amyjean.

Thunderstorm Artis (Wow, What a voice!)

Blues Traveler (Meh.) No photo, obviously.

Jewel (Always a joy to listen to her.)

Train (I was astounded by the 2 hour show they put on. They played a nice mix of favorite hits, new songs, and a few covers) Drops of Jupiter and Soul Sister had us up and dancing.

Now a few days of gardening, errand running, and details for the 2 weeks in Europe coming up. Dare I hope that it will actually happen?

A little post-walk White Claw - a whole can fits into these absurdly large wine glasses I got from Auntie's house. I should have placed a normal glass next to it for scale.

An early morning bike ride set me up for lots of task finishing today. The kale fortress I designed from scraps is finally complete. Its purpose is to keep the cabbage moth larva from devouring my kale before I get to it. I planted kale, beets, and arugula in there. It remains to be seen if I am able to win the critter wars. There are two three less chipmunks in the world as of yesterday today. They may be the culprits who are eating my few successful strawberries.

A little drama in the garden as some irate birds harassed this hawk.

  1. I know that the critters have to eat, but why must they feast on our gourmet stuff? Can't they just nibble on grass? Fingers crossed that the Europe trip will happen; I would love to go back. I didn't realize that Jewel was still performing!
