July 7
I was going to look up all the details of this excursion, when I decided to just copy and paste, then add my pictures. Here it is:
Mount Pilatus - After a leisurely cruise on crystal-clear Lake Lucerne to Alpnachstad ascend by the steepest rack railway in the world (48 degree incline) to Pilatus Kulm, 7000ft high. On top you have time to walk up to the vista point and to admire the breath taking panorama over the Swiss Alps and Lucerne. Then descend by aerial cable car to Fraekmuentegg, change to smaller cable cars and sweep over pine forests and mountain meadows to the village of Kriens, private transfer to Lucerne.
On Lake Lucerne
Our destination - Mount Pilatus (aka Mt Pilates)

Looking back down at Lake Lucerne from the cog wheel train.
Michelle and Michael from Omaha - she did not like the heights on this trip!
Janice looking at me and the back of Dale and George.
Our window view at lunch in the hotel atop Pilatus.

Our lunch crew - Dale, Dan, Michelle, Michael, Janice, Steve, me. George was off travel advising.
Me on the windswept top of Pilatus.
From the cable car on the way down....
Almost back to lake level.
So the excursion was really nice - no worries, not a thing to plan or worry about - all tickets and meals included. That being said, as a very active person, there was not a lot of activity. I elected to climb up to the top of the mountain and take a few other side trails. I understand this was an inclusive excursion, but I needed more activity. I got it by taking many walks in the city during unscheduled time and was happy with that.
Back in Lucerne - Mt Pilatus is behind the tower of the bridge.
Ready for a drink before dinner - Janice, me, Dale.
Our Lady of Perpetual Cleaning Church (It was always closed for cleaning)
Dinner tonight was at a restaurant on the water for all 16 of us in the group. Not an easy feat to accomplish, but we managed. We were across the river from this church. I think I had bratwurst and dark beer! Delicious.
I have some of the same memories of Lucerne. That's a nice looking and happy looking group. I didn't enjoy the heights either. The cog train made me nervous too.
