Motion Therapy

Lake George, NY

What an enjoyable Thursday bike ride with Susan. She took us to the Feeder Canal in Fort Edward which connects many (still working) paper mills to the Champlain Canal. We rode its gravel path for a few miles until it joined up to the Glens Falls - Lake George Trail which is thankfully paved. The day was warm and sunny and we stopped by the lake for a snack and I sent up the drone. We biked a respectable 26 miles in about 3 hours.

Drone shot.

Near the Million Dollar Beach of Lake George, NY.

I don't know much about the pesto project, but the mural provided a nice pop of color.

One day I will pay for taking pictures while riding my bike.

But not this day.

Friday I met Ken at the Tile Shop and he suggested I don't use a feature stripe on the bathroom wall as it would be broken up by both the shower glass wall and a window, plus its use is a bit cliche'.  He suggested very large format tile 2' x 4', which would go nicely with the floor tile I really liked but thought would be too dark.  The wall tile has much more interest and movement in it, so it will BE the feature. So now its these two which I actually like better than what I picked out on my own. We then headed to a flooring shop and picked out an engineered wood for the entire 2nd floor. So hopefully the project will move forward. Ken asked me out to lunch after but I was meeting a friend to plan a trip, so declined. Upon reflection, I really prefer to keep our interactions all business, at least until the job is complete!

I do love the look of natural stone even though this is not natural stone. I'll need to add very colorful towels to this room.

I took rainy and windy Saturday off to putter around the house and spent most of it on the phone with the bank trying to discover the source of a credit card issue, which was futile. Maybe Monday. I did make a large batch of roasted carrots and onions.

Today, Sunday, I headed to Connecticut to climb Bear Mountain. The temps stayed in the 40's and the wind was strong on the summit. My tracker showed it was a 7.3 mile hike with an elevation of 1,683 ft. The rock scrambling near the top was kind of fun even if a bit slippery as it rained just prior to the hike. My knees were complaining on the way down.  We started around 9:30 and finished by 3 pm with an hour to drive back home still in daylight. I don't love this sunset at 4:30.

It started out with a rain shower in the parking lot, but cleared to perfection.

I had to break out the down jacket for this hike.

I've been given the task of researching what made the mason Owen build this cairn at the top of the mountain in 1885. The group expects me to report out at our next hike on Tuesday. 😉

  1. I'm envious of your bike rides and hikes PLUS that gorgeous blue sky. I approve 100% of your choices; I would have picked them myself. I see purples, burgundies and greens going well with the gray. (that's what I have)
