Walking Through February

You know that dream when you're trying to run but it feels like you're walking through quicksand; you are pushing hard, but getting nowhere? That is how my days feel. Medical appts, hair appt, taxes, and the rest of daily life, but I don't feel like I'm making any progress. I especially don't want to socialize much. I've just cancelled another hike because I just don't want to go. No other reason.

The lake is finally frozen thick enough to make ice fishing possible, but those ice holes in the foreground make me wonder how safe that is.

My face is a bit of a mess after the dermatologist visit. Three biopsies, three liquid Nitrogen freezes, and I look like I've been in an accident. And a random eye infection which I'll have to deal with soon if it doesn't clear up. My visit to the dentist to get my crown ended badly. The crown was not made properly, so the temp had to be re-cemented and another appointment to get the permanent one. The ENT visit was uneventful - just manage my condition as best I can.

I did make a day trip Sunday to Mom's to tag things I might want in the house. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, and I tagged some sentimental items. I also took some photos of pictures I found.

Mom as a little girl, ~ 12 yrs old? She used to laugh at her hairstyle!

Me on the way home from college graduation, 21 yrs old.

Mom, me and my Glennie.

Mom and Dad were happy at their 40th anniversary party.

My niece Emily spent the night here last night as she was heading to an interview a couple hours from here. We played games after dinner and had a nice evening in. She is a bit of an old soul and shares a love of gardening with me.

I'm working on walking 4 miles every day as it's good for me. Other than that I'm just muddling through and looking forward to dinner and a show with friends on Friday.

  1. So many appointments--I would be stressed and depressed. I'm glad you're getting your 4 miles in and have plans for Friday. It's important to stay busy and as active as possible. Love the old photos--what a treasure!
