A decent view on a warm day.

Thursday - Potash Mtn hike was just a short little butt kicker in the foothills of the Adirondacks. The pace was a bit too slow for some of us, so we set up another hike for Monday. The weather was beautiful and there was plenty of time to chat about our upcoming adventures.

Friday - Susan and I made a plan to kayak on Lake Abanakee, for the views, the exercise, but mostly to see loons. We were successful before we even crossed under the bridge.

A little loon family with the male diving, then feeding the chick.

It's almost a 2 hour drive to get here, but quite a beautiful long lake.

Susan was able to get this shot with her very large telephoto lens.
Saturday - The rains came on the weekend which suits me fine. I try to stay home on weekends as all the working folk are out there clogging up the roads. I did pop over to the Farmer's Market with Annette to get some more garlic scapes and beets. On Sunday, I was able to mow the lawns before a thunderstorm drenched everything in the early afternoon.
Monday - Five of us drove up to the Lake George area and climbed Sleeping Beauty. The weather was cool and dry so perfect for hiking.

Tuesday - Today is my birthday and its a bit of a milestone which I'm ambivalent about. Luckily I have sweet girl friends who spent the afternoon with me touring Yaddo's gardens, the Tang Art museum, and then heading over to Doc Browns on Saratoga Lake for dinner.

I could make something like this!
Tomorrow the heat starts to build again, so I'm looking forward to not getting in my car at all. Perhaps just a morning bike ride around town. I've got to make or buy a dessert for the 4th of July picnic with my sisters. Buying one sounds so much simpler.
Lovely hikes and sights! You find such gorgeous places to go. We're going to be getting some heat too--low 90s which is bad for us where A/C is not standard.
ReplyDeleteWe're nearly twins! (except that I'm 74 and I'm guessing you're not nearly that!). Happy belated birthday, anyway. As for your political situation... a lot of headshaking, I imagine. Not that we're anything to boast about here either, but at least we got rid of our muppet-headed PM some time ago...
