February!
Cross country ski day at Brookhaven Winter Park on Saturday.
Well groomed trails at beautiful Brookhaven. It was mostly flat with a few fun down hills.
It's hard to believe, but I was too warm in my jacket at 19 F (-7 C).
Geri, Hassan, Peggy, and Danielle.
The crew having a late lunch at the restaurant.
Waxing crescent moon and Saturn - sky report from the hot tub.
Sunday morning was spent training to be a docent at the Pine Bush Preserve. It was
a weird feeling to be in a formal meeting again after 5 years of retirement, doing whatever I want. This is what I want, but it felt odd just the same. There were eight of us training to assist visitors to the center. I hope it becomes a part of my routine as I really like hiking the trails and I'm looking forward to doing some citizen science once again.

This wood turtle is a permanent resident of the Pine Bush Center. She cannot be released back into the wild due to a shell deformity, so her role is education.
Once I got home, Annette came over for coffee and conversation. We discussed many topics, one being the frigid weather this winter has brought. Last night was -1 F and we're supposed to get a couple more inches of snow tonight. I'm going to hibernate for a bit!
The week began Monday with more name change errands to the credit union today, along with lots of online status checking. I also ordered a snowshoe strap repair kit which I'm not sure I have the tools or skill to implement, but I'll try!
Tuesday turned out to be above freezing but very windy. I needed some time outside but am sick of the same neighborhood walks, so I found some woods to walk in by myself.

Public service announcement: Sign up for USPS Informed Delivery service. The post office sends you an email with a picture of each item they are delivering to your mailbox that day. The most recent email let me know a tax statement was being delivered, but it never appeared in my mailbox. I went to the Post Office to let them know but it was lost (most likely put in someone else's mailbox). This happens quite often as I've had to redeliver mail that ended up in my box, that belonged to my neighbors. I called the financial company and they will be sending me a duplicate. I never would have known without the email notification. Now I'm really worried about my passport which I hope will be delivered without problem.
Today was another quiet day consisting of lunch with a friend and not much else. I needed a nap since I had trouble sleeping last night. We're about to get a small round of snow - just a couple of inches - but the way the weather reporters are going on about it you'd think it was a major snowstorm. I'll just work on finances and maybe get a start on taxes.

I love your friend get togethers and wish I had more of them. Well, I do, but they involve coffees and Happy Hours versus exercise. LOL Pam and you have great walking/outdoor groups. I don't know that I would do well in that chilly weather; I'm not used to it. However, it's all about the gear, right? I've had USPS Informed Delivery for years and it is a life saver!
