Skiing!

Sunday was cross country ski day at Prospect Mtn in Vermont. The weather was gorgeous at 33 degrees and the trails were well groomed. Afterwards a few friends stopped over to use the hot tub and share the pot of chili I made for dinner. It was a great day!

Happy ski trail.

I just wanted the sign, I don't know these people.

I have noticed that I am rather linear in my 'getting things done' strategy. Multitasking has never worked well for me, so I take things one at a time.

Since I got my passport, my next task was to apply for Global Entry which includes TSA Pre✅ as well. It took a few days to apply online and get approval, but then I needed to attend an in-person interview to complete the process. There were no appts. near me, but I could drive up to the Canadian border (3.5 hrs away) in Plattsburg NY. The first appt was not until mid March and I'm not a terribly patient person. Looking further afield, I found plenty of open appts at Niagara Falls (4.75 hrs away).  My calendar was open on Monday and Tuesday, so I made the hasty decision to pop up there Monday, see the ice covered winter falls, have my interview, and stay overnight. I planned to stay an extra night, but the rainy weather and the dismal post industrial gloom that is Niagara Falls NY, caused me to just head on home the next day.

The rainy trip home.

I finally had a visitor to my very expensive, squirrel proof suet feeder.
I hope this downy woodpecker comes back with friends.

I went to Gore Mountain today with Peggy, to give downhill skiing a try after a 20 year break. I was so excited, in a rush, and a bit terrified, that I backed my car into the not quite open garage door and broke it. Yes the garage door that was newly installed last spring. I managed to almost close it, lock up, and then headed off to ski! I'd sort out the garage door problem later.

What a gorgeous day with blue sky and above freezing temperatures and no wind. I was delighted and relieved to see that I remembered how to ski and didn't fall at all. I was able to keep up with Peggy and Sue Ellen and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Looking north down a well groomed slope.

When I got home I called Ed, the garage door guy, and his team will be stopping by in the morning to assess the damage. No wonder he is a recommended favorite in my neighborhood.

I'm now cozied up on the couch, trying to finish up the book for tomorrow night's book club.

  1. I'm always afraid of doing that to the garage door when my mind is on something else! You've had so many fun adventures; I used to love downhill skiing. I wonder if it's like riding a bike and one never forgets how. Wonderful, interesting photos as usual!!
