Tuesday - Day two of the IronStrong Challenge started with a 20 miler on the Mohawk Hudson Bike trail. It's been really hot, so not much more progress has been made.

Another hot summer day for riding.

Thursday - I've now completed 9 miles of the run/walk portion, and believe it or not, I did run a bit of it. This challenge is definitely making me get out there more, and that is the whole point. Today has been mostly rain, but I managed to get out for an early morning 4 mile walk. Then mammogram and bone density testing along with some boring grocery shopping. Also - the heat wave is over!
Friday - I spent a little time in the garden this morning looking at the flowers, some of which were a surprise. The rain yesterday caused everything to pop, so I enjoyed wandering there with my coffee.

| This pale green gladiola - I thought it was going to be a white one. |

| I certainly don't remember planting this. The buds were almost black, but now this very deep red flower. |
 |
| I'm happy with the coneflower and coleus combo. |
Today I got in a 27 mile bike ride on the Harlem Valley Trail, then came home and walked 3.5 miles. The challenge is making me MOVE!

Sue Ellen and I stopped to look at three turkey vultures right next to the trail. They are ugly creatures! |

| Hassan and Jim on the wet and misty trail this morning. |
Tomorrow I'm off to Corning for a sibling reunion - the first since Mom's passing a year and a half ago. I am having lots of feelings about it (sadness in my heart, tears in my eyes), but I plan to have a wonderful time anyway. Dare I hope for a photo with all seven of us siblings? Deep breaths.
I would much rather have rain than hot temperatures although I imagine both are uncomfortable for riding. I love that deep red flower, and I bet Pam would know what it is. I hope to see a photo of your family and that the reunion goes well.
ReplyDeleteThe deep red flower is also a gladiola - I've just never seen it in my garden before!
