Going Strong!

These just don't stop!

My sister and I met in Millerton for our annual ride on the Harlem Valley Rail Trail
with lunch at the Oakhurst Diner. 27 miles was a bit rough, but we explored the
north end which was being extended for a few miles - yay!

Spring is just wonderful! I have trouble staying inside when it’s so lovely outside. I have been starting each day with a soak in the hot tub, 32 oz of water, and listening to the birds. Then I start on the yard/gardens.

This was all grass at the start of the day. Now wild geranium and day lilies of
all colors. I think I'll intersperse with some liatris, then mulch.

I divided and planted more day lilies and astilbe to better locations. I made a new flower bed around a crabapple tree, then did some hard pruning of trees.

Problem solving project: I have no water near the side garden and have to drag heavy hoses around from the front or back to water the plants. I found an old post in the shed, and a curtain hold back in the garage and constructed a hose hanger for the side garden. Now I have to lay a hose from the front to the hanger, then another to water the garden. I drilled a bee hotel into the side to encourage those solitary bees into my garden.

The process - the tire pump is to blow out the holes after sanding.
I don't want any wood snags to harm the bees!

My new hose hanger.

Crabapple blossoms are so pretty - the flowers are white but I like the pink buds best.

My mint propagation results in a pot with many holes. Bring on the mint tea!

Monday, today, was biking day with Ann Marie. We did the Electric Rail Trail on a gorgeous sunny and warm day. We stopped for lunch as Samascotts, then rode back for a total of 23 miles.

There are two of the Bernese Mountain Dogs that roam the shop, and this one came over to say hello.

This sign on the trail says it all!

Well, my biopsy came back positive so it looks like another excision is in my near future. I really better enjoy the ride as one never knows how long that ride will be.

Comments

  1. *Bad words* about the positive biopsy! I'm so sorry you have to deal with that again. I love spring too, perhaps even more than fall...although all the garden work can be exhausting. I haven't started planting yet and will wait another week or so. With my new flower beds, I'm feeling overwhelmed by decision making. As long as they're all annuals, it doesn't matter, right?

  2. At least it's on my leg and not my face again. Annuals are all so showy! I've planted many from seed, but the garden center displays are making me want to buy them all ready to go.
