The baby bunnies are setting out on exploring the yard. I see them on their own, like this one in the lavender. |
Sisters weekend was a success and over way too soon. We mostly caught up, reminisced, and did some walking and playing games. From Friday morning until Sunday afternoon we did a lot of laughing too. I wish they lived closer to me.

| We played “washers” which is a more compact form of the cornhole game. |
 |
| Theresa and I worked on my dented bumper and were able to pop out the dent with the use of a hair dryer. By the time we finished you could hardly notice where it had been dented. |
 |
| A green eyed jumping spider made an appearance during the washers game. |

| Monument Square at the Troy Farmer’s Market. We found lots of garlic scapes to purchase. |

I thought I had deterred the robins from building a nest on my deck weeks ago. They got this far in one night/morning before I knocked it down. It had no bottom yet, and no eggs, or I would have left it alone.
It rained all day and night Monday so I stayed inside and worked one the mundane house tasks. I was very tired from the weekend, and took a nap too. The summer solstice hike and barbecue had to moved to tomorrow due to the rain today. That means I won't go this year since I'm scheduled to be an Election Inspector for Primary Day tomorrow. |
Tuesday - It’s primary day and I’m installed in a church as an Election Inspector for the day. As I write this, at 11am, we have had a total of 4 voters since 6am. Needless to say, I am using my time to write and I brought another Elizabeth Strout book to read.

| Pretty stained glass window in the polling place. |
 |
| A courtyard garden I can walk in since there is very little action at the polls. |
I found out that I’ll be paid closer to $300 for my work today as well as the training I did.
We had a total of 41 voters for the day, but I was working with two really nice women. One was the mother of two of my former students. The other was a newer transplant to the area who I had so much in common with. We shared some of the books our respective book clubs are reading, and she is an avid BritBox subscriber like me. Between all of our chitchat, meeting a few former students and colleagues, and taking several walks, I didn't mind putting in a 13 hour work day.
Wednesday
While working the polls yesterday, Patty texted me about a bike ride today. I cautiously agreed, because it would be my first strenuous activity since the surgery. I almost was going to meet them ten miles into the ride, but decided to try the whole thing. The weather was glorious, winds were mild, and a mid ride coffee break at Brewtus Coffee Roasters spurred me on.

| An early morning meeting on the banks of the Hudson River in Watervliet. |
 |
| Sue Ellen, Patty, Ernie, and Charlene joined me for a 33 mile bike ride. |
I ran a few errands on my way home, then was so tired I fell asleep on my deck for 2 hours. Needless to say, I didn't get much else done today. I planned on gardening but had no energy for it. There is always tomorrow...
I don't have a sister and always wished I had although many of my friends fulfill that function. (not quite since they don't share any childhood/family memories with me) How cool that you could get out the dent! I've heard of the hair dryer trick but wasn't sure it worked. I'm glad that you're back into biking on such a glorious day and that you're taking it easy and not pushing yourself. As retirees, there is always tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteEven though I only get together with 2 of my 6 siblings regularly, I am grateful for them.
