I woke up very sore from the Ampersand hike, but I needed to pack up and set out to Corning to visit for a family picnic. I dawdled about the house, but eventually I pulled myself together and drove the 4 hrs to mom's house. She is getting much frailer each time I visit, but maintains she is not ready for household help other than what family does. Sigh.

Brother J called and invited me to join he and his daughter J, on Keuka Lake for the day. I couldn't abandon Mom right after I got there, so I said I could join at 1 pm. Turns out sister T and husband were going too. I did groceries and cleaning in the morning, then headed to the lake. We were joined by my older sister, M and her husband too. So it was four siblings (+ in laws and niece) for a fun afternoon on the lake!
Me and sister T. I have never driven a boat before, but I managed to navigate for an hour with no problem.
We all brought adult beverages and snacks so there was no danger of starving.
Sister M and niece J.
We mostly chatted and caught up, and looked at the fine lake homes.

Sister T, niece J, and I went in for a swim.
Afterwards we all went to a Mexican restaurant for dinner - it was a fun and relaxing day.
Sunday was a bit dreary and wet, so a planned picnic never materialized. Instead, we decided to order 4 pizzas, make a garden salad, and just hang out at Mom's house. She is most comfortable at home, and she loves it when her children all get together. Six of the 7 siblings were there, and we had a nice time. No drama, just a lot of laughter and conversation, and food and wine!
Monday was my last day visiting, so after a leisurely breakfast, T and I did a thorough cleaning of Mom's house, then we went to see brother J's kitchen which he has been renovating. He's done an amazing job taking it from the 1970's dark wood to a modern light and sleek design. Not bad for an amateur. After a cocktail and a quick lunch, I set out for home. It was so nice to see most of my siblings.

What fun to get out on the water! (love boating) It's also wonderful to get together with family and make great memories. I bet your mom was delighted!
