Wait, Summer Is Over?
The weekend went by so quickly. Among other things, I took Mom to visit Aunt Pat's grave to see if the headstone was installed. It was, but I could see the disappointment on Mom's face. It was really just a placque on the ground - very underwhelming. I checked the nearby plots, and could see that most of the family arrangements were similar. One upright large headstone, with subsequent family members arranged at the foot end and flush with the ground. It makes no difference to me, but to Mom's generation it's very important. I'm not sure what she plans to do about the headstone.
We then stopped by the river to fly the drone and take a few pictures. Mom was fascinated by the little aircraft and that her unconventional daughter was investing good time and money into it.

Cassie just had grape juice!
On Monday, Sister 3 and I tackled the cleaning and laundry before we both set off for our respective homes. While driving, I noticed that my hike on Tuesday was cancelled which was disappointing. By the time I got home I hatched a plan, then checked out my favorite place to stay in Narragansett, found one room open and booked it for the next night. In the morning, I hastily repacked my bag, loaded the bike and was off by 8am to Rhode Island. I arrived in time to walk the beach and have lunch on the rocks listening to the surf.
It started to rain later on, so I did a little shopping, bought a picnic dinner, then had some more beach time with a good book and some hard seltzer.
Today, I walked a few miles on the beach before heading over to the South Coastal Bike Path.
A moody morning sky.
Point Judith Light House in the distance.
A last look at the iconic Narragansett tower.
Such a pretty bike path through the greenery, even on a cloudy day.
I took a little detour on the Rhode Island University bike path spur to add a few miles;
total today - 17 miles.
The squirrel hunter.
On the drive back home, I found out tomorrow's hike is also cancelled due to rain. I'm not going to plan another adventure though. I need a little relaxation time before my bike rides Friday and Saturday. Such an arduous life!

I'm envious of all those bike rides and the beautiful scenery! John and I have only been twice this year and MAY get another one in before the weather turns. I've always wanted to like wine since wine tastings sound like such fun. Unfortunately, I hate the stuff and also dislike grape juice. LOL
