Mid September

9/12/23 Tuesday

I really need to log some biking miles so I decided to head out beyond Troy to Eagle Bridge. The humidity is still here so it made 79 degrees feel closer to 89. You would think I know how to properly gear up for a bike ride, but I forgot my rear tail light (necessary for road rides) and I only had a half bottle of water. I managed a hot and sweaty 17 miles up and down hills anyway and slept very well that night.

The flow under Eagle Bridge reflects our very wet summer.

I'm still feeling accomplished to make a dinner from my garden bounty - red cabbage, spinach, arugula, and beet greens. Pepitas and goat cheese finish it nicely. I just planted another pot of spinach to keep the salads coming.

9/13/23 Wednesday

Today included just a walk as it rained most of the day, only clearing up after 4 pm. I managed 4 miles in the twilight and was amazed by the work I saw down at the beach. We now have a dock and a kayak launch thingy which means I won't have to step in the mucky mud to launch - progress in my little town. The beach building has taken shape too, along with improvements to the waterfront.

New dock and small boat launch. Yippee!

The sky after the storm was pretty too. Goodbye humidity!

The whole park is getting renovated.

9/14/23

There was no way I was going to miss out on a crisp fall weather day, so a friend and I
enjoyed a brisk 21 mile ride on the Mohawk river trail.

9/15/23

After a 4 hour drive to Mom's place, my sister and I headed to Secret Park
for a spin on the old fashioned merry go round. It is the only (fun) piece of equipment left from our childhood visits. The rest are updated plastic and safe rides.

9/16/23

A baby shower for my nephew's wife. Her little nieces were so thrilled to help with the gifts.

My oldest sister with her daughter in law and some of her 8 grandchildren.
I was delighted to cuddle the 1 month old for a bit!

I was happy to enjoy three of my sisters' company this weekend.

  1. Love the bike rides and views! Luckily, I can't feel the humidity through the computer screen. :) I always wanted a sister, but got three brothers instead.
