Moving Along

 8/28/23

The day started out sunny and warm. I couldn't take another minute at home, so I headed to a sunflower field to take a walk. By the time I arrived, the clouds had moved in, but I still walked around and took some photos. I was annoyed that they didn't allow drones - that was my main purpose today.

How can a field like this fail to cheer anyone.

A beauty!

An over achiever.

A few light drops were falling when I got home, so I took my book into the garden under the umbrella.

The skies soon opened up, so I retreated to the covered deck.

Later, I let my sweet tooth take over and made lemon meringues.

Tuesday 8/29/23

I took to the garden for some pruning and tidying up. The balloon flowers are having a second blooming. I'll wait till the clouds move in to take a walk - I'm supposed to avoid sunlight right now.

Stitches out day! I couldn't get to the office fast enough and this procedure was simple although the RN had to call in the surgeon to remove the three stitches inside my lip. Another week of healing then I can start using the scar reducing lotion.

I packed up and headed to my Mom's to help her out for the weekend. I met with her care giver to see how things are going - very well so far. I took a walk with oldest sister - 5 miles and stopped at the farmers market to pick up a bag of garlic bulbs - seed for next years crop.  Then it was time to take Mom to her medical appt, but halfway there she had a panic attack (new to her) and I had to turn around and take her home. She was a mess. After I got her settled, I made some calls to get advice and we were able to do a virtual visit with Dr, but had to figure out how to get her blood work and injection done. The next morning she was fine and I kind of sprang on her that we could go right over to the office and get the rest of her work done. She got dressed and I took her over with no problem, then did 2 errands after. She ruminates and works herself into a frenzy if she has time, so I guess I'll just have to go with impromptu appts. from now on.

Oldest sister and I met for a long walk around town.
We admired this nice idea to pretty up a telephone pole.

I love these, and I'm going to look into getting one for my neighborhood.

9/2/23 - 9/4/23

The heat returned so walking and a hike in the cool woods were my diversions.

Youngest sister and I explored a new trail near Keuka Lake. It starts in a vineyard.

It borders a stream for awhile, then a gorge.

Our hiking guide who decided to join us for the full 4 mile hike. Her people met us back at the trail head. Her name is Grace and she often escapes her electric fence and goes on "adventures". She was a delight!

I also cooked a shepard's pie which was very good, and garlic lemon shrimp linguine. I portioned out several leftover dinners for mom and I headed back home. After 4 hrs of driving, I had just enough time to pack up a small cooler and head over to Tanglewood for An Evening With John Legend with a new friend. It was a nice show on a beautiful summer night.

John Legend telling his story with words and song.

Now I'm spending Labor Day by myself. I've been invited to a pool party, but I've got nothing left in my social tank, so I'm having a 'me' day. I'm enjoying it thoroughly!

Salad for dinner. I can't believe how fast these grew.

  1. The flowers are gorgeous; you got some great shots! I'm glad you got out and did some social activities but also knew when you'd had enough. I'm like that too.
