Quiet Times
The weather has taken a turn back towards winter and it is rarely getting above 50 and the winds are relentless. Wednesday I biked the Zim Smith trail with Peggy and Susan. It was a quick 23 miles with a few water and chat stops, but lots of time enjoying spring and the nice weather. Later that afternoon the winds really picked up and they've been blowing for a couple of days now.

I'm not sure why I was shocked to see snow. It is common in March and even April.
Friday - I was a bit surprised to see snow on the ground when I looked out the window on this first full day of spring. I knew it wouldn't last long as temps were to approach 50. I had another very quiet shift at the Pine Bush Preserve to mark my Friday morning. Afterwards I braved the gusty winds and took a 4 mile hike on the Great Dunes trail.

Not much is happening this early in spring.
Later that evening I met Dale, Dan, Janice, and George for dinner at Emry's in Troy. It's always a joy to catch up with them and have a few laughs as well as support each other. Dan's brother died a couple of weeks ago and they have been getting his widow settled in assisted living from a state away. It's never easy letting go.
Sunday I went to the annual banquet of the CASTA group as Geri's guest and I also joined the group. It was fun as far as dinners go with a game of trivia (our table won!) and lots of raffle prizes (I did not win one) I'm going to apply to go on their trips to Vermont and Norway next year, but as a new member I'm low on the priority list. It's worth a shot anyway.
When I got home I took a walk and spotted a red fox with a meal in its mouth. I'm glad I got out there as the weather this week looks cold and windy. I may have to resort to museums for diversions.

The fox was too quick for a photo, but the mallard was chill.

The dilapidated farm has been undergoing quite an extensive rehab project. First the house, and now the barn.

It's supposed to be 73 here today (summer temperature for us) but with potentially huge storms coming in tomorrow. Yikes! This spring weather is sure changeable. Mallards are so pretty!
