Nothing says 'Spring Is Coming' like this combo:
- No jacket or hat needed with
- Morning tea outside, while
- Shoveling 4 inches of a very heavy snow, sleet, rain mix.

Just a lovely way to start my day! Honestly, any temperature above freezing feels warm!

I could've used the snow blower, but a strength training workout seemed appropriate.
A nor'easter is expected on Monday to add to the joy! Hopefully it will also add inches to the slopes as my sister and brother-in-law are coming to ski at Gore Mt. with me this week.
When I yearn to get into my garden and it's still buried under the snow, I'll go to my favorite garden center and wander their shop and greenhouses. It was filled with treasures, but I bought nothing; just feasted my eyes on growing things.

I've never seen such large pitcher plants each having many of these flowers.

This textile sculpture was beautiful, but at nearly $600 I refrained.
|
Even more beautiful, but $700!

A closeup of the fibers and beads in this moth.

These lady slipper orchids were so pretty too.

My handcrafted origami birthday card for Esther. Thank goodness for YouTube videos.
I went to a restaurant with a group of friends last night to celebrate the 80th birthday of my friend Esther. She is such an inspiring person in so many ways. She is a staunch defender of the planet and constantly shows me how to recycle, reuse, and keep things out of landfills. She is a tireless protester of the current regime, and supporter of democracy. She can out hike me, and is an excellent cook and baker. The list goes on and I'm honored and fortunate to be her friend. The only gift I could think of that honors her values, was making a card for her, oh and a bottle of her favorite wine.

I have some very creative friends who decorated for this dinner.

Celebrating Esther - she's in teal on the right.
I'm off to a play in Spencertown, NY just as this snowstorm is starting. We are only going to get 6-8 inches, which at this point is just a minor annoyance.
People like Esther make me realize that I'm not doing enough! Of anything. I was amazed that you were having your tea outside with snow on the ground. You are acclimated to the cold. Hope you don't get too much snow and that it's temporary. The photos I've seen of the East Coast have been incredible!
ReplyDeleteYou are just doing different (and very important) things. We ended up only getting 5 inches of snow here. My sister in CT got over a foot. When I work up a sweat shoveling snow, I have a good 15 minutes to sit around comfortably drinking tea! My fleece is super thick too.
