Come On March
Susan brought flowers, Theresa and Bruce brought wine. The company of family and friends has made my least favorite season pass pleasantly this year.
I'm tired! I’ve had company of one sort or another all week and time has flown by accordingly.
Monday - my Norway trip companions came by to organize some non-skiing activities for Oslo, and work out some logistics. I served pumpkin bread and tea, then later broccoli cheddar soup. It was time well spent.
I ventured out on the ice of the lake which I assume must be at least a foot thick. I've always been paranoid about ice covered bodies of water so I had to be very sure it was able to support me.
Tuesday - Susan and Ann Marie came for lunch (chili and salad) and some hot tub time for Susan since she wrenched her back in a recent fall. It was nice to catch up with them.
Perfect skiing weather from the top of the mountain.
I was able to treat them to a day of skiing as my guests, so the total cost for all three of us was $10. Volunteering for ORDA has been well worth it, and Theresa joined up too, so she can get her own passes in future.
Enjoying the view from the best seat in the lodge.
We took a break at the Saddle Lodge about halfway up the mountain. Not loving my helmet hair!
They stayed 2 nights and remarked that it felt like they were at a resort with my hot tub and meals I prepared (enchiladas, breakfast sandwiches, etc…). I love sharing my home and was happy to have their company.
Now I am lying low and getting ready to head up to Craftsbury VT for a few days of cross country skiing. I have the slightest bit of a cold, so I'm resting, and drinking copious amounts of green tea (yuck!), so it'll be gone very quickly.
Saturday - So much for lying low! At 47°F, I couldn’t help but go outside and grab a few pots from the shed as well as tidy up a bit. I watched a couple of episodes of Gardener's World on BritBox last night and that motivated me to want to get into the garden. I was a bit jealous as it seems the Brits can garden all winter. I just have to content myself with my little indoor garden for now as the ground is frozen solid and covered with snow.
There is still about a foot of snow on the frozen ground, but looking ahead at the temperatures, it should be all melted within another week. I even saw some temps in the 50's and 60"s in the 10 day forecast - yay!
50s will be delightful! The snow will soon be gone at those temperatures. The skiing looks beautiful too; our mountains haven't gotten much snow, so winter sports aren't doing well here. When do you go to Norway? I've always wanted to visit Scandinavia although my younger daughter said that it was expensive and that the food wasn't great. But it's SO scenic!
