Saturday was a nice quiet day at home, though I did take a drive over to the Farmers Market for some greens, but added some cheese and hard cider. It is so easy to buy things there just because they give samples - cheese, cider, and pesto - but my pesto is better.
Sunday I made a chicken and mushroom quiche and salad for my first annual Oscars Watch Party. We hatched this plan at dinner the other night and I reluctantly agreed Saturday morning while at the Farmers Market. First though, Susan, Amyjean and I went over to Barberville Falls and hiked the ridge trail and then down to the waterfall. It was a nice warmish day and the falls did not disappoint. Then back to my house for dinner and Amyjean made an Oscar cake. We barely made it to 10 pm before we called it a night.

Monday was a rest day for me, but because I struggle with a need to accomplish, I went on a 4 mile walk where it occurred to me that I needed to complete the Shingles vaccine. So I made an appt at 2:30 and had the jab at 3, completing my feeling of accomplishment for the day.

Monday's progress - lighting and bluetooth speaker fan installed. The cement floor underlayment installed and shower drain readied. I'm guessing no work today due to the snow.
Today will be a quiet day due to the snowstorm we're currently dealing with. It's a big one - schools closed and a state of emergency declared by the governor before the first flakes fell. My plan was to stay ahead of it by shoveling every 4-6 inches and there would be no problem. However, I woke up to about a foot of snow. As I contemplated the enormous task, I realized it was just getting deeper by the minute, so just started shoveling. I did most of the driveway in an hour, but then went in for a tea break. I just went out to finish the giant pile at the end of the driveway but some wonderful neighbor had made short work of it with their snowblower. Yay for me and my back. It is a heavy wet snow so I'll have to stay on top of it. Other than shoveling every few hours, I plan to cozy up with a book, Netflix, hot chocolate, and wine. Friends in the area are reporting lines down and electricity out. I have my fingers crossed that we don't lose power.

Not good timing to have the car out, but the garage is full of building materials.

The yard is always enhanced by a covering of snow.

I'm going to need to knock the snow off the little crabapple tree. There is lots of cracking in the woods as branches are breaking under the weight of the snow.
11:00 AM Update - 15 inches and continued snow til 9 pm. 😳
It's beautiful but that's a LOT of snow! It would be catastrophic here as most of us don't have snow blowers or even shovels. That's great that you fit in a hike and an Oscar party. Isn't the red carpet now champagne colored? I didn't watch since I haven't seen any of the films this year, unusual for me.
