Black Mountain Hike And Bathroom 97% Complete

Training hike number two is in the books, but only Ann Marie and I went to Black Mountain overlooking Lake George. Elevation of 1300 ft mostly just the last mile as you approach the summit. We took 2 hours going 2.8 miles up, and 3.5 hours on the 5 miles coming down. A full day hike.

We had another picture perfect day with slightly lower temperature and less humidity. We elected to do the longer loop trail up one side of Black, then down the other side past the 4 ponds for a total of almost 8 miles. I fell once on the flat trail after becoming ensnared in a branch that wouldn't let go. I've never heard Ann Marie laugh so hard! We were so tired at the end we just pulled off at a local bar for a burger and beer and watched the regulars speculate about us.

We are looking towards the north end of Lake George, just in front of the tower on top of Black. THis was where we had lunch with the best view!

A nice little overlook facing south down the Lake George.

Sitting on a log and resting at one of the four ponds.

The arrow indicates the tower where we had lunch overlooking the lake. We were about a mile from the parking lot on the way out.

While I was out playing in the woods, Ken's crew came and almost finished the bathroom! There is a 2 inch marble border to be installed atop the tile of the shower, and a ceiling to paint downstairs where a dropped saw resulted in a patched ceiling below the bathroom. I love my private little spa bathroom. Now to work out how to pair the Bluetooth speaker fan to my phone. The toilet is  located in a separate water closet next to this room.

The border tiles are sitting in the shower waiting for installation on top.

I'm going to love the heated towel rack.

Now I just need some inspirational art work and some colorful towels. Oh yes, I almost forgot - the largest glass panel on the end of the shower has to be replaced as it arrived with a decent little chip. It can be used, but the manufacturer will have to replace it in about 3 weeks time. Sigh!

  1. What a gorgeous hike! I love the water views. Your bathroom is beautiful--so serene and elegant! It was so hard to pick out towels when I had my master bathroom re-done. Colors I thought would work didn't. I ended up with a muted medium green and several different shades of purple/plum. They go nicely with my gray walls and neutral tile.
