Sitting Tight

I can't resist a bunch of sunflowers!

The thought of no activity this week was just too difficult for me; Monday was enough! While the temps were in the fifties yesterday morning, I went for a 3 mile walk and immediately felt better for it. Then to the garden store for a few more plants and Home Depot to pick up some materials for a repair job on the columns on the front porch. Do I know what I'm doing? No, but I'll give it a try since I'm in a self imposed isolation this week. I just look so intense with these unhealed brows.

The temperature on Weds.  dropped into the 40's and there is a freeze warning for the night so I'll be able to take another walk, but no line dance tonight.

Today's walk was a perfumed event with all kinds of wild honeysuckle.

Another 3 mile walk is done.

Thursday - I feel bad that my friend Annette hit a deer on her way back from line dance last night. They are everywhere these days but seem to be staying away from my yard and flowers - for now.

The brows are healing nicely and are getting ready to peel which is the worst looking stage. Perfect timing as I have dinner and a concert tomorrow night and going to see Trevor Noah's show on Saturday night. Glad I got the bangs to camouflage them a bit. Today will be spent hanging around the house, gardening and getting stuff done, and another walk of course.

There were a dozen turtles on the log one second before this picture, but I got too close.

My neighbor and I took a walk this afternoon and we saw thirty or so very large carp near the lake shore, but the wind came up and the ripples ruined the shot.

I put coverings over some of my plants last night and stowed a few in the garage to protect them from a late frost. I thought the temp stayed above freezing because the garden looked fine this morning, until I saw my hydrangea.
Just a bit of frost damage.

Funny how one branch was untouched while the one next to it froze.

Well, it's back out into the world for me tomorrow no matter what I look like.

Comments

  1. Walking has kept me sane (relatively!) during the pandemic. I didn't realize that the brows would peel; I guess I didn't understand the procedure very well. I need to get some plants! I love Trevor Noah; we read his book in Book Club. It was excellent.

  2. That's a very late frost, is it not? How annoying.
