Icy Times And Surgery Recovery

 Monday 3/25/24

It's the second day after the storm, and the trees are still encased in ice making for a very pretty walk yesterday.

Sparkly sunrise. The deer tracks in the yard show they were visiting last night.

Sparkly garden.

The deer were desperate to get something to eat last night!

The lake didn't freeze though.

The sound track was the tinkling of ice as it was falling from the trees, cracking of branches in the woods as they finally gave way to the heavy burden. The birds were trying to find food in the places not iced over, poor things.

Temperatures will rise to 50+ today, so that will be the end of the ice. Now I can peruse the garage doors in the pamphlet left by the guy putting in my new door. And distract me from worrying about the surgery this afternoon.

The surgery was a bit easier this time since I knew what to expect especially since it was on the other side of my face in almost the exact same position. So eating is a challenge as I want to minimize scarring, but this time the stitches stopped at the top of my lip, not inside my mouth. Small mercies! I'm well stocked to subsist on soft foods for a few days, but as before, the lack of activity will likely drive me nuts.

It is quite a different experience having to stay at home, no exercise, just healing. I kind of like the lack of needing to get things done. I've finished the book, Someone Else's Shoes by Jojo Moyes. Loved it. I finished watching Fisk on Netflix - pretty funny series about a quirky Aussie lawyer and the office she works in with other quirky characters. I've also been sucked into The Resident, a medical drama.

I did order a new garage door and opener to be installed in a couple of weeks. I'm tired of looking at my original, worn, and hail dented door.

Today I decided to see how taking a walk would affect the surgical wound and it didn't seem to affect it at all. So I took two walks today. I may venture further tomorrow because I only have so much patience. Once again, I can't wait until the stitches come out Monday.

  1. Wow, the ice is gorgeous but I'm glad it's gone, or going away. I hate driving or even walking in it, plus it brings down too many trees and plants. I hadn't even thought about the animals trying to find food. :( So glad your surgery is over and you're on the mend.
