Getting Comfortable With Winter

The dreaded doldrums of January have arrived and I spend too much time ruminating that I need to be productive, or moving and enjoying the outdoors, or helping my mom. I have taken a couple of days this past week to do nothing but read a good book with tea or wine for company. It's odd that I find it difficult to do that. I keep hearing my daughter's wise words "You don't need to be productive every day, Mom." I've definitely taken that to heart this week.

One thing I have done, is attend the Van Gogh Immersive Experience in Schenectady, with my friend Susan. It was quite nice, and definitely enhanced by the Sunflower cocktail that I was encouraged to bring into the exhibit.  It was a lovely way to spend an hour with a friend. I'm glad I went, but the experience didn't floor me or live up to the hype that has accompanied it.

This picture has spurred me to get my bangs back. I'm tired of my large forehead! I'm not loving the grey hair either. Self critical much?

After that, we met up with a group of 10 girlfriends for happy hour and dinner. All I had an appetite for was meatballs, so that was dinner. It was perfect!

On Sunday, I was eager to get out of the house so I determined to go to Bennington VT to a particular antique store and hit a few others as well. Friend AJ, agreed to go with me - Yay! It was a beautiful weather day except for the frigid temps, and luckily I threw the drone in the car on the off chance an opportunity presented itself.  We ended up doing more sight seeing and drone photography than antiquing, but it was a great way to spend the afternoon.

The mountain snow line was an unexpected vision.

Me flying the drone at the Bennington Monument. Another drone pilot there LOST HIS DRONE!  😱
A tough lesson I do NOT want to learn the hard way. 📷: AmyJean

It was scary to send the drone up so high near the tower. It was a bit windy which I'm sure contributed to the other guy losing his drone.

Quaint Old Bennington buildings.

We were intrigued by the snow covered Green Mts, so we drove up there and found a Nordic Ski Center.

  1. I had to tell myself the same thing after I retired--I don't have to be productive every day nor do I need to stick to a strict schedule. It looks like you did a variety of wonderful activities. For some reason, I'm not interested in that Van Gogh experience although many people have raved about it. Love the drone shots! I wish John would do more with his drone. Living so near to a military and commercial airport(s) makes it tough to fly it legally.
