The New Year Begins
I spent New Year's Eve tracking and texting with Glennie as her rebooked flights back to LA were both delayed and she was worried that she would be stranded at Newark airport. Her flight was supposed to leave at 7 pm or so, but didn't leave until after 11 pm. I told her to save receipts as they would reimburse for dinner costs at Newark. She arrived in LA after 2am PCT and took an Uber to her apt which got her there at 3 am. We both knew better than to book late day flights, but in the moment there wasn't much choice due to 100,000 other people trying to rebook as well. I'm still waiting on the $900 for the extra flight from SouthWest. 😒
I went back to my Mom's on the first and kept her company, visited with my siblings, and did a fair amount of lazing around amidst cleaning and cooking and Dr. visits. I took no photos because there wasn't much remarkable in the gloomy gray of upstate NY. All the snow has melted and temps were above normal, but no exercise for me!
Thursday 1/5
I drove for 4 hours back home today, took a quick shower, then drove with my friend Annette, and her daughter and friend to the Naumkeag estate in Stockbridge, MA for the Winter Lights display. It was magical even though I was dead tired.

I ran into hiking mate Sarah Kelly as we were walking through Stockbridge which affirms that it really is a small world. We had a very spicy dinner at the Agave Cafe in Great Barrington MA before heading home. I got home at 8:30 pm and headed straight to bed.

What fun!
ReplyDeleteGlad that your daughter got back home--travel is SO tricky and unpredictable these days. Frustrating too! You did a great mix of activities. Love the light show!
