The Hike To Lac Blanc

Admiring yet another view.

I have never hiked two days in a row, much less five in one week. Today, hike number three, had me feeling quite strong and Ann Marie agreed that she felt stronger too.

Today we caught a bus to the Flegere Cable Car and rode up the mountain to the ski center, then we began hiking up to the lakes in the mountains. The weather was warm, but the clouds were kind of rising and moving all around us, hiding the mountains at first, then revealing them in a most dramatic view.

We took a balcony trail, which provided us with beautiful views of the areas we had already climbed and wildlife was everywhere. We spotted a family of ibex cavorting on the rocks, and a couple of Chamois. Our elevation gain was only 900 ft today - but the hike was long 7.5 miles.

Crossing a bit of snow - wish I had my spikes.

Such a happy place!

The Chamonix Valley about 3500 ft below us.
