July 12 2022 Speyer, Germany

Today started off with the now usual Yoga on the deck followed by breakfast. Then we all boarded the bus for a quick ride to Mannheim Vineyard and Wine Tasting. Yes, why not drink at 11 am? It was an interesting tour by an impressive 25 yr old taking the reins from his father who visited later with a bandaged hand. This tour was well worth the 15 minute bus ride.

Learning about wine while drinking it in the garden.

 In the old wine cellar.

After lunch, Steve and I grabbed our bikes and rode through town to see the sights. Traffic was busy which made me feel like I was in a video game trying not to get killed. Therefore we headed out of town to the Pretzel Fair. It was fun, and quirky, and like most small town fairs. I even won a phone charger from a random game I stopped to play. We bought some pretzels to share on deck with the others and headed back to the ship. I wasn't satisfied with my exercise though, so I headed off to ride a few more miles.

I just happened to look up when the sun was aligned with the steeple.

So. Many. Churches.

Steve's namesake store (?)

Finally a pedestrian zone.

Pretzel Fair!

My solo ride past the science center then down the river a few miles. It wasn't until I took this picture that I realized I was biking in sandals all afternoon - not the most appropriate foot wear!

As we ate our after dinner pretzels on the deck we noticed the full moon rising and crowds gathering on the river banks and bridge.

We were soon treated to a fireworks show courtesy of the Pretzel Fair!

  1. I love the sun above the steeple and the firework photos! I admire them all actually. I wish I liked wine but I am a huge fan of pretzels. And beer!!
