My post Covid summer started off with a concert, a pool day, followed by a second concert.
I discovered Harbor Jam at the Rivers Casino thanks to Janice and George. We saw a Chicago tribute band on Friday and caught up on their 2nd Rhine cruise after I left them in Amsterdam. The drought dried up the Rhine so much that they had to be bussed to Frankfurt and to one of the excursions. Then part of their group were unlucky enough to have their flights cancelled due to the Lufthansa strike. George sorted it out by sending them to Paris by train to catch a flight home. He said being a travel advisor right now includes so much more trouble shooting than ever before. Saturday lounging in the pool. The second concert on July 30th was a Billy Joel tribute band. I went with Lyne, Ginny, and Ann Marie and the music was nice and the weather gorgeous.
Jamming at Harbor Jam.
I met a new friend Tom for a bike ride on the Electric Trail. It was a nice day and I was able to do 22 miles without much trouble. I thought Covid fatigue would slow me down, but that waited until I got home - completely exhausted. But to be fair it was 90 degrees out!
A favorite stopping point along the Electric Rail Trail.
On Monday I headed to my mom's for visiting and general support. I cleaned a bit and cooked, and Mom decided she wanted a growth taken off the top of her head as it was bothering her quite a bit. So I took her and it went off without a problem. I went back home on Friday, but my sister called on Sunday to report a bleed on mom's head. She took her to get it sorted and I headed back to Corning. The guilt was quite overwhelming. Mom regretted the procedure but there was nothing to do but help it heal. Making sure she gets 60 g of protein a day is no easy feat, but she is trying.
I did quite bit of bike riding around town and chatting with my sister, but not much else. Unless you count power washing the patio, cleaning the floors and bathroom, cooking and shopping. Haha.
From the viaduct over the railroad and I-88.
A Remington(?) statue by the old Credit Union.
I always enjoy a nice shadow selfie - not an easy feat while riding the bike. I dropped the phone
once as I had to ride by this fence 20 times to get this shot.
The sky was so pretty, I hung out for a bit on Centerway Bridge...
To catch the sun setting in the west...
And the full moon rising in the east. My sister laughed at my nerdy ways!
I again headed home on Friday to take care of my own house. I hadn't mowed the lawn in a month!
What wonderful times and photos! Who is Tom? ;) My lawn is mostly dead so mowing isn't an issue except for those pesky weeds that keep growing.
