Our last port of call before leaving Germany was the city of Cologne, home to more churches/cathedrals. I think this may have been the largest of the cathedrals, but I was not really all that interested due to the sheer number I visited this trip. The morning walking tour focused on just that, though Steve and I became entranced by a destruction site where a block of buildings were being torn down. The most amazing of the machinery was a picker upper thing that was picking up then TOSSING giant slabs of concrete onto another pile. Absolutely fascinating!
The city hall which is the site of dozens of weddings every day. There are three wedding parties here.
The cathedral exterior was most intricate.
A vertical panorama shot of the interior.
A moneymaking art installation - the gendarmes were keeping a close eye on the situation, but it was all about peace and support of Ukraine.
Drone photos of our group plus any other passengers who were interested.
The engineering of the bridges on the Rhine caught my interest. I'm not sure if we had entered Netherlands or still in Germany.
Our last evening was spent on the deck and in the lounge. I was bit sad that the cruise was ending because having every need catered to was such a lovely experience. I had the most relaxing massage by Alayna the yoga instructor. She worked every kink out of my muscles.
Not sure why I took this picture of Curt talking to the waiter, but I noticed it was an accidental selfie, so here I am in the mirror!
We said goodbye to Steve who was being literally dropped off at an undisclosed location at 3am to catch a cab to the airport. Somehow George (our travel agent) was able to work his magic with the captain and they agreed to this unconventional additional stop. Could it be because Steve took so many drone photos of the crew throughout the week?
Cologne Cathedral is very famous, but I completely understand your feelings. On some of my trips, I saw so many cathedrals, churches and castles that I became quite jaded. It's amazing how we adapt so well to a new world and then feel sad to go back to our old one.
