July 10 2022 Breisach, Germany
I have never heard of Breisach Germany, but it seemed to be just your average small town. I was up early and decided to take an early bike ride to see the town. I had spent the past 3 days on tours involving buses and just couldn't face another bus day. The Alsatian Towns tour seemed interesting, but too much time sitting! I biked through the relatively deserted town (7am), then spotted the church/castle? up on the hill. I decided to go for it and spent about half an hour exploring it and taking pictures. Then I spotted a tower like thing on the next hill over, so I made that my goal. I'm not sure what it was, but I got the loveliest picture of the church I had just left, and the very colorful village.
The road up to the church. Cobblestones are not a great biking surface.
The church I didn't bother to find out about. I felt a bit guilty, but there are so many churches, and I knew I would forget the names and details an hour after learning them. So blissful ignorance was my theme.
A fellow tourist volunteered to take my photo. I reciprocated the kindness.
I went back to the ship for lunch, then set off with Janice, George, and Steve to visit another part of town. Steve set off to fly his drone and the rest of us just tooled around on the bikes for awhile. Then Janice and George headed back to the ship for a massage, so I decided to log some biking miles. There was a bike path along the river to the south, so I followed it for about eight miles then turned into a little village called Hartheim. I took a picture of its church, had a quick look around, then headed back. I was hungry and thirsty, but since I had not exchanged any dollars for Euro, I had to make do with a little chocolate bar from the train at Jungfrau, and my water bottle. A very unsatisfying biking snack.
This sign just made me laugh!

I don't speak German, but I knew not to head down this path!
One of many colorful sunsets.
When I got back to the ship I was told I missed my massage two hours ago! I don't know how I got so mixed up. I thought it was the next day. Anyway, I rebooked it for the last day of the cruise and vowed to triple tip Ilana, since I cost her a massage. I felt horrible!
That was the first full day of the cruise. We all had dinner together, then drinks on the top deck until calling it a night. Next stop - Strasbourg, France.

Love the sunset and the colorful buildings. It sounds like you got a ton of exercise! I would like to do a cruise if I could guarantee I would. (and not just eat too much food!)
